Teaching Children Gratitude is All About Their Attitude

Teaching children gratitude is all about their attitude but more importantly it's about the parents attitude and the mirror image they portray to their children and the rest of the world to see.

Gratitude is such a brilliant gift that has been bestowed upon us if we choose it. The sophistication of this gift is simple. It is a choice. Be thankful for what you have, who you are and who you can be. It's all about perception. It doesn't matter what societal status you come from, what your wallet has in it or how you were culturally raised. Be thankful for what you have and feel right now in this exact moment in time.

Intentional Conscious Parenting: Connecting With Nature

Hi everyone, we created a new video for you. This weeks conscious parenting tip is from Chapter Five of our upcoming parenting book 10 Tips For Parenting Consciously. This weeks tip is all about connecting with nature.

Connecting with nature is one of the methods we feel can truly help your child become balanced and grounded. Walking barefoot can connect you and your child with the currents of the earth if you allow it. Children can't help but feel the energy from the earth as it penetrates their physical body and nourishes their soul.

Intentional Conscious Parenting: Building Self-Esteem and Confidence

We have exciting news! Our International Conscious Parenting book is in the final editing stages. Today we want to share a quick parenting tip with you from chapter nine: Building Self - esteem and Confidence.

It is important to support your childrens endeavors no matter how creative they get!

It is important to support your childrens endeavors no matter how creative they get.
Remember they are children and their ideas will change many times. By encouraging them you are building their self-esteem and confidence. In turn feeding their mind, body and soul. Be open to saying "yes" or at least hearing out their ideas. Encourage them to draw, speak their mind, ask questions, play musical instruments, try sports, sit quietly and read a book or play in the dirt. Every child is so unique and their sensitivity levels are vastly different. That's why it is so vitally important to parent each child on their own individual level.

Demonstrating to your children how to be in the present moment.

Demonstrating to your children how to be in the present moment.

A lot of children have the ability to stay in the moment, but if you have a child that has a hard time focusing and being present here are some tips.

  • Fully listen when you are in the middle of a conversation with your child. Turn off or remove distractions. Keep eye contact while talking with someone, especially your children. Show the ability to be able to listen without interrupting with an immediate response.

Identity - Growing Up With Labels

IdentityDefinition on Dictionary.com
The Sense of Self, Providing Sameness and Continuity In Personality

We've all seen the studies and heard the horrible stories, the ones where someone's life long career suddenly ends and within a few days they've dropped dead or committed suicide.

I don't bring this up to have a somber conversation. I tell you this to have a discussion and shed some light on a topic I don't feel receives enough attention.

The way we humans are wrapped up in our identities. The multiple roles we play as humans in a life time.

These roles are important and help shape our outer form, but when we tie everything we are into these roles and they suddenly change, the walls can come crashing down. Sometimes the change is planned and sometimes it's unexpected.

Let me give you an example. Jerry lives next door, he's been a logger for 25 years. Due to change in supply and demand for wood Jerry no longer can rely on his profession to pay the bills. He feels like it is the end of the world. He's a master at what he does. He's put his blood, sweat and tears into his profession. Over time it has became his identity. Everyone around his little town knows him and how he's won the local lumberjack contest several years in a row.

What If?

What if everyone had their basic needs met?
  • Shelter
  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Health Care
  • Survival needs cared for
I often wonder what would the world look like if these needs where met?

Would creativity shine through?
Would people's pain bodies become healed?
Would people look forward to going to their job of choice, not because they had to but because they wanted to?
Would more entrepreneurs show up?
Would crime go down?
Would people have more tolerance for other people's beliefs?
Would there be less of a need to control others?
Would people be happier?

I invite you to ponder these questions with me.

IT ENDS HERE….By Ian Hawkins

Guest Post by Ian Hawkins.

A very good friend of mine was recently telling me a story about his family and how he and his wife had changed their outlook on their life and that of their family. They were heading in a direction they didn’t like, one they were all too familiar with. And so they made a crucial decision – IT ENDS HERE. He actually used those three words and they have become like a mantra to live their life by. This is so powerful and so inspiring.

Certain beliefs and behaviors that had been stuck in their family for generations were repeating and they decided enough was enough and it was time for change. This generation would be where it ends and they would set a new example for their children and their children’s children to follow. And things are changing. I can see it in him and I can see it in the stories he tells me about his wife and children.

5 POWERFUL REASONS YOU ARE ALREADY AN EXTRAORDINARY DAD.

Guest Post By Ian Hawkins.

I had an interesting conversation with my daughter a while back. I was apologising for speaking to her with angry eyes and she said something so simple to me, and yet so powerful. “Dad, I don’t see any anger in your eyes, I only see kindness. It’s just your eyebrows that look a bit angry sometimes.” Brilliant! So while I was frustrated at myself for not bringing kind and loving body language, she was so beautifully reminding me that just because I had made a mistake, didn’t mean that I had angry eyes, it didn’t mean I was an angry person. What she saw was her “kind” Dad pulling an angry face.

Life is precious and can be gone in an instant. Do not waste a minute of it.

I WAS HIT BY A DRUNK DRIVER LAST NIGHT
Yes, you read that right. I was hit by a drunk driver last night. Thank God I walked away without a scratch, but needless to say, it was pretty scary. As you know well by now, I tend to write through my experiences in order to process them, so this will likely be a long but chocked-full post. Please read on if you will….

I was on my way to a school to meet my friend and colleague Sue DeCaro so that we could present part one of our Conscious Parenting series when the accident happened. I was in rush hour traffic on a very busy road. I was probably the 20th car stopped at a red light when out of nowhere, a car slammed into the back of my car. I called Sue right away to ask her to come pick me up where we were so that she could bring me to the workshop (because yes, I truly am that committed to the work that I do!). She immediately turned around to come to me.

As Conscious Parents, We Must Accept The As-Is Of A Given Situation

Guest Post By Erin Taylor Author of,

Leaving the grocery store this morning, I noticed a mom holding the hands of her two young children as she waited to cross the parking lot to get to her car. With the amount of information one can glean from a very short observation of another, it appeared that the mom seemed relaxed and peaceful, as did her two children.

As I reflected on this woman's demeanor, it got me to thinking about how I used to feel as mom of very young ones, and I believe that more often than not, I looked anything like this mom today; for I remember very often feeling stressed and unhappy, with a furrowed brow and all. I am certain that people who saw me must have wondered why I looked so tortured and miserable. This was unsettling to me, especially as a mom who had suffered the death of her first-born daughter. How can parenting be so difficult and stressful? Why is it so hard? And I felt guilty for not enjoying it more than I did, especially given my life experience.

Homeopathic Remedies For Bug Bites and Stings

One thing we like to keep in our first aid kits are various homeopathic remedies so we are never caught off guard while camping, traveling or enjoying the outdoors.

"Homeopathic is a system of medicine who's principles are even older than Hippocrates. It seeks to cure in ordinance with natural laws of healing and uses medicines made from natural substances: animal, vegetable, and mineral." ~ Homeopathic Medicine At Home (We really recommend having this book on hand along with your remedies)

If Homeopathy is new to you we encourage you to learn more about it. Our two families have used it for years and years. We love the results, it works well for us and there's no side effects. Disclaimer we are not doctors, we advise you to follow your intuition and if you feel you need to check with your doctor then please do so. Follow the directions on the bottle.

Bug Bites - Carol's son Josh is a delicacy to mosquitoes. They love feasting on him. We have found through the years if he keeps Thuja on hand when he is out hiking or fire fighting if he needs to he can takes a few to alleviate the itch and discomfort from his bug bites and help keep the mosquitoes at bay.

Bee, Hornet and Wasp Stings - Apis, Calendula, Hypericum, Ledum & Cantharis.
Note: On bee, hornets and wasp stings: If victim is allergic to insect stings rush to nearest hospital emergency room. Meanwhile, give Apis in the highest potency you have (Homeopathic Medicine At Home)

Spider bits - Carbolicum acidum, Crotalus horridus, Echinacea, Lachesis and Oxalicum Acidum.
Note: On poisonous spiders apply an ice pack to the bite to slow the spread of poison and rush victim to nearest hospital emergency room. Meanwhile, give one of the remedies mentioned here. Once again this warning is from Homeopathic Medicine At Home.

If you use homeopathy in your home what are your favorite remedies?

Do your children talk about seeing angels or spirits?

Children are sometimes very intune and open to other realms. They often see their guardian angels or other spirits nearby. It is important to listen to them when they express an interest to talk about these topics with an adult. Children that are scolded or dismissed with what they are trying to express about what they see or feel may shut down if they feel no one is listening. By creating an open dialogue and listening you are setting the foundation of trust and allowing your child to be able to talk with you about other important topics as they grow older.

If your child has an imaginary friend or speaks about an angel, ask them what their friend looks like, sounds like or feels like? What does their angel say to them? Are they comforted or afraid of their friend?

"Children are great at opening our minds to possibilities we never knew existed."

How do you feel about them talking with their guardian angels? Are you open minded, close minded, or conditioned by your beliefs? There are documented cases all over the world of human beings being able to communicate with their guardian angels. There are many documented cases where an angel intervened in a sticky situation. We personally believe we all have guardian angels, guides and connections from beyond the 3rd dimension. We just need to ask for their assistance.

Some of the most common known angels and ascended masters to work with children are:
*Archangel Gabriel *Mother Mary *Diana *Archangel Michael *Archangel Metatron
*Damara *Jesus
*Kuan Yin and *Saint Francis

Doreen Virtue has an amazing informative book that lists in details Archangels and Ascended Masters and exactly what they can assist you with.  Remember they are here to assist us on our earthly journeys. We just need to ask for their help.

Children are great at opening our minds to possibilities we never knew existed. We encourage you to keep an open mind during your parenting process. You never know what vital life lesson your child will bestow upon you.

Temper Tantrums ~ An Opportunity To Teach Your Child How To Process Emotions

Temper Tantrums ~ An Opportunity to Teach Your Child How to Process Emotions

By Yvonne Perry

Empathy and intuition gives us the ability to better understand how we are connected to other living things. It is a form of communication with others, nature, animals, and even higher or spiritual forms of life. We are all born with empathic ability but most of us shut the sensing ability down at some point either because the energy overload causes discomfort or we are taught not to trust our inner guidance. By shutting down our intuition and empathic ability, we live in our heads and are pretty much out of touch with our body and our own emotions.

Thoughts and emotions have a huge impact on our bodies.

Raising children in an intentional inspired way is fast becoming a goal of many parents.

Parenting is not an easy job but in my opinion it's the best job anyone could ever have. The children of today are the future of tomorrow. Today we have so many more tools available and so much more knowledge than when our parents were raising us. Such as the fact that our thoughts and emotions have a huge impact on our bodies. Author Dr. Bruce Lipton's research shows that genes and DNA do not control our biology; that instead DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell, including the energetic messages emanating from our positive and negative thoughts. Teaching children how to connect with what they are feeling is a valuable tool. So much of our society is based on shutting down our feelings and just dealing with life. That old saying "Just suck it up" can come back to haunt you. This can be a very harsh way of being. When we don't work through our feelings and emotions we can easily bury them inside our bodies and not even realize it creating many health problems later.

(RE)Connecting with Your Teen on Spring Break

(RE)Connecting with Your Teen on Spring Break By Mary Jo Rapini, MEd, LPC

Spring break is here and that means family trips. If you're like many parents, you've been busy with your job, your kids' activities, your partner and your aging parents. It's easy to forget that you are raising teens, and taking everyone on a family vacation may be more challenging than you expected. Teens aren't the easiest to travel with. They have an attitude over things that may not have concerned them before; they insult under their breath; and often they melt into screaming, slamming doors and tears. It can make living with them trying, but traveling with them can push you over the edge.

Babies Have An Emotional Guidance System Too!

"People often incorrectly assume that since the baby cannot speak, it could not be creating its own reality, but that is not the case. Even those who do have language are not creating through words, but through thoughts. Your babies are thinking when they are born, and before they are born they are vibrationally aware. Their vibrational frequencies are immediately aware. Their vibrational frequencies are immediately affected by the vibrations that surround them in their birth environment, but there is no need to worry about them, for they, like you, were born with an Emotional Guidance System. ~ Abraham-Hicks

The Necessity of a Meditation Practice for the Parents of Children with Challenges or Special Needs.

I am the mother of a child with special needs. My young teenage daughter was born with pachygyria, which basically means her brain decided to be structurally different from the norm. In the old days she probably would have been labeled "retarded" (what a word, huh?!) and in a sense, that is what her brain did – it didn't advance fully.
My day-to-day equates to extensive learning delays and intense mood swings carried off by a normal looking kid. So, as I write to you... know that I GET IT. Having a child on a different path creates challenges and ups and downs like you would never believe. Right?! Not just for that child but also for you as a parent, or if you are a sibling, grandparent, educator, medical professional, etc.
