Can your child reflect the energy of someone else in the room?

Can your child reflect the energy of someone else in the room?
Intentional Conscious Parenting Kids Card Deck

Absolutely they can!

Children are their own little beings. They have good and bad days just like adults do, but they also have the uncanny ability to mirror a person in their environment taking on an energy of anger, fussiness and discontent. Maybe you've noticed this?

If your child is modeling someone else’s behavior nearby he/she might be unaware especially if he is young. Even babies often cry when in the environment of a confused, angry or aggressive personality. They also cry when they are fussy, hungry or need changing.

What can you do if you feel their outbursts have more to do with what they are feeling energetically around them?

If possible calmly remove them to a different room creating a sense of peace and calm.

Depending on the age of your child, pull your child aside to calmly discuss their feelings and play the Shake It Off Game.

If under four you can simply say this isn’t ours and be funny and shake your body singing Shake It Off.

It’s a good idea to do a self check on your own energy from time to time to see how you are feeling and evaluate if you’re projecting. If you’re projecting your energy, is it harmful or healing?

We can either bring a room down or bring it up.

It’s our responsibility to mind our own energy. Practicing this spiritual tool in front of your children demonstrates emotional awareness, emotional intelligence and guides them on how they too can learn mastering a self-awareness tool that can utilized throughout their entire life.

Next time your child acts out, rule out all the possibilities:

Overwhelmed
Overstimulated
Tired
Hungry
Thirsty
Wet diaper or in need of a potty break
Feel the energy of the room

Assess, take a few deep breaths, stay calm, and become present with the learning experience at hand. Most importantly don’t take your child’s behavior personally.
