Intentional Conscious Parenting is a way of being with our children.

Intentional conscious parenting is a way of being with our children.  It is a choice.  I choose this path of parenting because it supports my instinctive desire to live through my awareness.  It asks me to BE a watcher of my children AND of myself in relationship to them.  It asks me to listen.  It asks me to wait.  Watch my reactions.  And choose to interact with my kids with compassion for who they are and have always been.  It asks me to listen and watch some more.  It helps me see who I am.  It allows me to accept myself and my children, at each moment, with trust that what is before me is as it ought to be…so we both can learn how to be even more compassionate companions.  It encourages me to expand beyond and transform my personal beliefs.  Quite simply, it asks me to respond to my instinctive awareness and my ability to love unconditionally. ~ Alexandra Folz

Showing Off Or Showing Up By: Alexandra Folz

Last weekend I took my girls roller skating at the local roller rink. I wanted mom/daughter bonding time, AND a date with my inner child.
These past few years I’ve peeled off stifling layers of adulthood, and the illusion that I am my past, my parents, my enemies, my friends, my stuff, my occupation, my children, and my future. I believe this is why “she” showed up! Yes, my inner child met me at the skate counter as I traded my Dansko’s in for sassy, hard-leather skates with frayed laces and orange wheels.
You’d think since I wrote Indigo’s Bracelet, I have a great relationship with my inner child. But that’s just not the case. In fact, I actually believe writing the story helped me find her (most of you already figured that out).
Before I go on, here are a few definitions for inner child.
1. The child you once were…(www.whatisholistic.com)
2. The childlike aspect of a person’s psyche especially when viewed as an independent entity (www.Dictionary.com)
3.(MY FAVORITE)…The essential, or original self, regarded as a child, existing within the shell of an adult
(www.wiktionary.org)

"Alexandra, looks like there are 3 ways of perceiving who we are ... who we really are, who we think we are, and who others think we are...the key (or bracelet) is connecting with who we really are and not concern ourselves with the rest..." Becky

Indigo's Bracelet Review and Live Chat Details

Indigo's Bracelet
Indigo's Bracelet By: Alexandra Folz
Illustrated By: Carol Ann Johnson

Indigo's Bracelet is a chapter book full of treasures for ages seven to preteen. We found Indigo's Bracelet so refreshing and captivating because Indigo was so grounded in who she is. She's alluring, animated and high spirited.

In today's world this book can help teach children how to be self empowered, learn how to be comfortable in their own skin, and be confident in their choices. Ideal for parents teaching their children how to work through everyday life experiences by being present in the moment.

There are many spiritual tools and hidden messages through-out the book. Reading about a ten year old girl named Indigo, was so empowering even to the reader to watch her self-discovery as she learned to follow her intuition and listen to her inner voice instead of believing what other people said about her.

Indigo's Bracelet left us full of gratitude for the reinforcement and rock solid support demonstrated by Indigo's  mom.

Indigo's Bracelet By: Alexandra Folz Review By: Yvonne Perry

I came across Indigo’s Bracelet on a parenting blog and thought it looked like a good book for my 8-year-old granddaughter, who is a voracious reader and very interested in spiritual things. When the book arrived I was so impressed by the delightful cover that I opened it and started thumbing through. I was captured and decided to start from the beginning. I couldn’t put it down; I had to find out what the gifts were and who was whispering to Indigo.
I like the book because it gives real life situations that young people deal with such as peer pressure, self-image, loneliness, school programs, and a dad who makes promises and then doesn’t deliver. On top of dealing with these “normal” things, Indigo is also empathic. She rescues animals and cares for the environment—often embarrassing herself with this dedication. When her mother gives her a bracelet that she wore as a child, Indigo starts hearing a voice and feeling something strange. Magical things begin to happen that bring gifts or lessons to help heal her heart and self-esteem. Indigo learns the secret to living an authentic life in spite of what other people think: Believe the love you feel inside, not the words of fear that make you hide.
I highly recommend this book and can hardly wait to put it in the mail to my granddaughter. I’m sure she will love it as much as I do!
